Update 2025-04-16 (v13.65)


Hi folks!

Today's update brings a slightly experimental feature - unloading textures while they're not used. I've done my best to test this on my own system with some fairly intense setups, and on some examples it can reduce the RAM usage down from about 2GB to 0.4GB.

If you enable this (in the advanced menu), expect to see a short lack of image while the texture reloads, especially if it's a very large one. To avoid this affecting things like your blinking and talking sprites, I've added a timeout which you can adjust (defaults to 10 seconds).

Please note that this will only affect the RAM usage. If your textures are massive, there's nothing I can do about your GPU usage, you should cut out transparent areas or otherwise shrink your textures.

Please report any crashes or breaking issues to me as usual.

Other bugfixes:

  • Some performance enhancements, particularly around layer sorting/calculation order.
  • Made the UI for Motion Parent stay closed while no parent is selected
  • Made the UI for Individual Motion stay closed while it's disabled in Motion Parent settings
  • Made it impossible to choose a layer's descendant as its Motion Parent
    • I already had checks in to prevent direct child/parent recursion, but I previously missed the possibility of selecting children further down the hierarchy.
